Since my doll Molly was my first American Girl Doll she has been loved on a lot! I was 9 or 10 when I got her, so I took her everywhere with me! To the library, wal-mart, even to Florida! I was playing with Molly a few days ago, and noticed that her hair was getting awfully hard to brush! Molly's hair is frizzier than my other dolls because when I was younger I didn't have a doll hairbrush, so I used my own. (NOT a good idea) I have really been wanting to make Molly's hair look better, so a few days ago I washed her hair. :)
I took off Molly's clothes, and put on a hair cape instead, so that she wouldn't get wet.
Here is what Molly's hair looked like before I started washing it. I braid her hair a lot (her favorite style) so it has gotten a natural wave. I wanted to see if her hair would get straighter if I washed it too. :)
Here she is getting her hair washed. I used a mild shampoo and conditioner. I was sure to cover her eyes with a dry wash cloth! :)
After I washed her hair I brushed it out. Her hair has always been uneven, so I trimmed her hair just at the ends. (I got my mom's permisson too)
Here is after I trimmed her hair. It looks SO much nicer!
I put Molly on a chair, in her room to let her hair dry. It had to dry for one day.
This is what her hair looked like the next day!!! I am so amazed at how nice it looks now! It is so much easier to brush!
Now, Molly will have a new 'do when she goes back to school! :)

that is sooooo cool! hey, do you brush addys hair with the brush, or a hair pick?

Hi Mackenzie,
I brush Addy's hair with a doll hair pick, but I use a doll hair brush for all my other dolls. :)
Have a great day! :)

She looks so much better!!! Do you think it would be okay to wash Samantha's hair with childrens shampoo? Koda

Her hair looks great! I also had to trim the ends of my Molly's hair at one point. It was really uneven and looked terrible, but now it looks fine.

Hey Liz,
Great job on the doll hair! I was just wondering why you recommend using an American girl brush rather than your own. I mean, why does it matter? I thought it was just a money making scheme! Hehe=D
Love,
Hannah

Hi Hannah,
I recommend using an American Girl Doll hairbrush (or any doll wig brush), because the oils in your hair rub onto your own hairbrush. If you use your own hairbrush on your doll, the oils get on your dolls hair and can ruin it. (Like your dolls hair can get frizzy like my Molly's hair.)
Thank you for the comment! I hope you have a great day! :)
