American Girl of the Year Lanie's Backyard Photo Contest!

In the latest issue of American Girl, the January/February issue, there is an advertisement about the Girl of the Year 2010 contest, Lanie's Backyard Photo Contest!

   

The point of the contest is to take a picture of five different nature items in your backyard, of the ones they listed. Some of the items they listed were a bird, spider or spiderweb, and a seed or pinecone. There are also items that they list for specific areas of where you live, like by the beach or if you live where it snows. Along with your pictures, you have to write an answer to the question: "I am inspired by nature when...". Five Grand-Prize winners will recieve a Lanie Doll Collection!! It said that you can find more details and upload your pictures at the Girl of the Year page on AmericanGirl.com, but the page for Lanie isn't there yet.

In the American Girl Magazine they also showed the picture of Lanie on her book cover and her books.

They had on the page about the contest, another thing that caught my attention! They said that four unique sets of Nature t-shirts for girls and dolls will be for sale! American Girl is also partnering with the National Wildlife Federation, and promoting the Be Out There movement! Those shirts look really neat! :)

I am so excited about Lanie!! I am too old to enter the contest, but maybe my sister will enter!

Oh my gosh! That is so great. I can't wait for my magazine to come. My mom ordered it a long time ago, and it still hasn't come! I really want to win the contest, thought I probably won't. I wonder how many people will enter the contest?

I LIVE NEXT TO THE BEACH! AND WE FIND COOL BEACH THINGS THERE! And how old to you have to be Liz? I'm eight, is it eight and up? I just live so close to the beach I walk there a lot instead of driving, but of course we don't swim. But sand-castle building is fun! The possibilities are endless for what I could do! I am so excited for this contest!:)I am a photographer ( sort of)! I love taking pictures. I have already started taking pictures for it! I have a question though. Do you have to have a picture of every one of the options they gave you? Also, do you have to do one of those choices or can you do anything?

Hey I took some good pictures! I went fishing with my dad and it was freezing, but I managed to get some nice pictures. Also we saw a lot of turtles come up to the surface, but they only stayed for half a second and I never knew where they would show up so I probably only got a picture of it's fin. :)
Is Hope going to enter the contest? Because you seem to live in a pretty area. ;)
P.S. I wish we had pinecones, but the beach gives us all only seaweed. Phooey!
