Hi Liz,
I had an American Girl Birthday Party once. It was so much fun.We ate pizza, made our own cake that said, "American Girl" on it, and since I got the "Doll Tees" book, we each made a T-shirt for our dolls. Then we lined up all our dolls and had a protest for Samantha and Nellie. We even videoed it with our voices in the background! Though the video camera was new, so I didn't understand how to save the videos to the computer, and accidently deleted them. Then we had American I-DOLL (American Idol for your dolls!) We made a paper microphone and we each sang a song (pretending to be our dolls.) Then we watched the Samantha Movie, Then the Kit movie, and then the Felicity movie. (It was a sleepover, and we were really tired by morning)It was a great party, and I think my friends enjoyed it too. Anther time I had my two friends over to play Molly's Mystery Party game, which was so fun. Unfortunately, I don't think American Girl still sells them. Have you ever had an American Girl Party? I can't wait to have another!!!

I am honored to be on your blog! Thank you so much for that...
American Girl is a worthy investment and hobby. The ideals and values learned and reinforced by American Girl has really made an impact on my daughter, Chloe.
Not only does Chloe love AG, but so do her Mom and Dad!
If anybody has any questions about what I did or how I did it, feel free to ask.

Oh and Heather, I saw the centerpiece Emily was sitting on. I have 2 questions...is that your daughter's favorite American Girl? And one more...how did you make that centerpiece? I have never had an AG party, but if I would I would have it Kirsten thememed and make paper wagon-trains! LOL

Hi Girls!
I'm happy that you like Chloe's birthday party theme so much!
Hannah, each of Chloe's AG friends has been a favorite at one time or another. Right now, her favorite is in fact Emily!
The centerpiece was a tablecloth that I artfully bunched up in the middle of the table. It could be a pretty blanket, or a few scarfs, or a piece of fabric that your Mom might find for super cheap at the fabric/craft store.
On top of that I placed the fake plant that you see with the red roses. It could be anything, even paper or tissue papers, in a metal bucket or a vase! To make it look more festive and less grown-upish, I bought from the party store 3 or 4 (I forget!) picks that I just stuck down into the plant and fluffed them out. They come in lots of colors.
Then I just placed the dolls evenly around it. One on each side of the table.
Don't forget confetti! You could easily make your own with a paper punch. I'd bet your mom has at least one in the house! Or a three hole puncher, and just slide a piece of colored paper into it and make 3 at a time! Punch away until the tray is full of circles!
Picking a color or idea scheme and basing your ideas around that is a sure fire way to make your party look really professional. Making some things yourself makes your party look like you.
Have fun!
Heather

i have had two American girl birthday parties and had 4 birthday parties at some of the American Girl stores. one of the themes was the Totally Tropical Party American Girl had several years ago and also the american girl party set from Halmark that was with the historical characters on it. i also have had my birthday at the American Girl Stores in New York twice, Dallas twice, and Chicago once. after my totally tropical party my mom took me and all my friends to a water park it was a whole lot of fun! even though i am a lot older than most who like american girl i think i am going to have my bithday at the American Girl Boutique and Bistro Dallas this year with some of my firends. i dont think they have had an all teenage party at American Girl yet!

Cute website! I am actually teaching a whole class on American Girl for summer school. Yes, you heard right! An hour a day for 20 days, and every week is a different character (this year is Felicity, Samantha, Molly, Kit, and Julie). I'm getting a lot of great ideas for it, especially for the little parties we'll have every Friday. There should be about 20 girls in the class and I'm thinking of hosting a party at the AG store in LA too. Oh, and there is a real possibility of having one of the authors come to my class! This is my first year teaching it, so I am really excited at how great the turnout is going to be!

Hi! I've never had a doll party, but my next door neighbor had a slumber party for Samantha's birthday! We decorated girl-and doll-sized photo frames and sunglasses, played "twirl the doll" and "speed gem", and even watched the Samantha movie! For dinner,we had mini pizza and cupcakes, and the dolls made a pizza to share and had cake! I know this is super late, but it was so much fun I had to post it. Awesome website!
