This just in! American Girl posted on their Facebook page that the new American Girl Historical will be named, Caroline Abbott!
They've also posted the news and mock book covers on the American Girl Publishing Website!
Ahh, I'm so excited! From the looks of her name with the droplets of water, I wonder if her story will be near the sea? I can't wait until September when everything is revealed!
What do you think of the news? Do you want to get her?

She looks nice! I hope she's not replacing Molly, though.
Posted by: Selma | May 15, 2012 at 06:01 PM
Selma, don't worry, it's like, official that AG won't retire Molly and Emily nor Addy, because I emailed them and they said they add no plans to retire Addy, Molly or Emily.
Funny, cause once, before ANYTHING was released on Rebecca, I asked them for a pic of her, and sure enough, they sent one! Haha, cool, right?
An from the mock book covers, I think she'll have wavy hair... Medium to long hair length... Buy you just can't really tell! I don't think she'll be black, though, for some reason... I think she'll be white...
And Meg, I got your award up! :)

Maybe on the Titanic????
Posted by: Heather | May 15, 2012 at 06:47 PM
I heard of her a few months ago! :) I can't wait for her:D
Posted by: Emma | May 15, 2012 at 06:50 PM
Selma: Somebody (a blogger) got information from AG they don't plan on retiring Molly OR Addy for a while yet. And that's so exciting! I plan on getting her, but I also really want Addy and a JLY!

Oh my gosh!! I think she is going to be from the Titanic.. I love the name Caroline!!!!!!!
Posted by: Versailles | May 15, 2012 at 07:28 PM
SUPPER COOL! I can't wait! I really want her! I like the guess of the titanic too!

The titanic? Heather that is absolutely brilliant! I was totally confused till you said that. I hope that is her time period or the 50s.
Posted by: Meg | May 15, 2012 at 08:03 PM
Wow! I can't wait for her to come out! I have to agree with the others, maybe the Titanic????
Posted by: Jael | May 15, 2012 at 08:09 PM
Hmm, Caroline's Battle? (Listed on the publishing link as Book 5.) Sounds to me like she has something to overcome. Could it be a 60's girl after all, and maybe have something to do with the civil rights movement? *Bounces up and down in anticipation.*
Posted by: Mellie Hardy | May 15, 2012 at 08:19 PM
Madeline: That blogger is me XD
And I would LOVEE her time to be in like titanic! Like, a survivor? But she has no books called something like, "Caroline At Sea" or anything. I don't know though, maybe!
Posted by: MissCpFreaks | May 15, 2012 at 10:44 PM
I think Caroline's stance looks sorta like Rebecca...from what I can see of her, she looks very confident, and sorta dramatic...like Rebecca...
Posted by: Dizzywing233 | May 16, 2012 at 06:39 AM
Caroline Abbott...sounds British.
Posted by: Dizzywing233 | May 16, 2012 at 06:40 AM
My mom said that too, Mellie Hardy. That would be fun! She is good with costumes, so we keep thinking around the lines of titanic, Civil Rights Movement, or 1st World War.
Posted by: Meg | May 16, 2012 at 07:49 AM
I agree that it may be the Titanic or somewhere near the sea, ocean.

I think Caroline sounds like another Kirsten, but it could be anything! Maybe she lives somewhere on the East Coast. She might have brown hair, brown eyes, light skin, straight hair, we really don't know! I can't wait to see what happens!
Posted by: Kit | May 16, 2012 at 01:58 PM
This is exciting!!! I hope she will be from the late 1700s or early 1800s and live in New England. Maybe her father will be a sea captain or lighthouse keeper. That would be cool!
Posted by: Amy43 | May 16, 2012 at 02:13 PM
I am so happy they are coming out with another historical character! I can't wait!
Posted by: RachelNevaeh | May 16, 2012 at 05:15 PM
I think that if she is from the titanic that will be really cool. But I was thinking that maybe she is from the gold rush era.
Posted by: anna | May 16, 2012 at 05:34 PM
Oooh! I'm so excited! I hope she's from the Titanic! That would be amazing!
P.S. Liz, how is work on your doll clothes going??
Posted by: Silence | May 16, 2012 at 07:07 PM
OMG!!! My name is Carol Abbott. I have to get this one!!!!
Posted by: Carol Abbott | May 17, 2012 at 07:04 AM
Oh my gosh! Really?
That's amazing!
When my BFF told me about this I was like ... WHAT?!??!

I don't think she will be from the Titanic because I think that happened in the 1910s, and we already have Rebecca.
Posted by: Amy | May 17, 2012 at 10:15 AM
The Titanic sunk on April 1912. Maybe Caroline came to America to have a better life. I'm not sure.
I can't wait for her to come! :)

Liz thank you so much for responding to my email and that you are gonna post my pics! That makes me feel so special!
Posted by: Meg | May 17, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Hi Heather!
I totally agree with you! Titanic is a great guess!
Posted by: Lydia | May 17, 2012 at 03:29 PM
I was wondering Liz if you were going to update the monthly doll outfit poll? I know you are probably busy, but I was just wondering.
Posted by: anna | May 17, 2012 at 03:56 PM
Titanic love it, but who is retiering? I hope it is not Kit.
Posted by: Cora | May 17, 2012 at 10:16 PM
I also agree with meg that she might be from world war 1, because we haven't had a doll from that era. I still think though that she could be from the gold rush era.
Posted by: anna | May 17, 2012 at 11:17 PM
Thanks for agreeing with me Anna!
Posted by: Meg | May 18, 2012 at 12:58 PM
I have a catalog that features the mystery Caroline covers live on the website but I have an added clue. The background shows a coastline! No time period clue though.
Posted by: AnnaBella | May 18, 2012 at 01:36 PM
I did find one more clue for us. I did a historical search of the name Caroline and it seemed to peek in the 1880's.
Posted by: AnnaBella | May 18, 2012 at 01:38 PM
Here is the link on that data

Posted by: AnnaBella | May 18, 2012 at 01:39 PM
I don't really want her to be from the Titanic. We already have Rebecca, and it would be a sad story.
AnnaBella, what website did you see the coastline, and did you see what she looked like?
Posted by: Amy43 | May 18, 2012 at 09:51 PM
I really hope its the Titanic! Although it could also be Arizona's centennial...Probably not, but its a possibility.
Posted by: Heather | May 18, 2012 at 10:51 PM
Maybe its a ship from when her dad had to go overseas because of the first World War.
Posted by: anna | May 19, 2012 at 01:09 PM
I Just found the blog of the lady who created Caroline and wrote her books!

if the search that Annabella did brought up the 1800's then she could very well be from the gold rush era. The water, could be because her family moved and they had to take a boat to get to California. I don't know just random thoughts really :).
Posted by: anna | May 24, 2012 at 03:46 PM
Since it is the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, I am going with that time period :^)
Posted by: cj | May 27, 2012 at 08:38 PM
she is supossed to be from 1812
Posted by: the scoop | June 18, 2012 at 01:19 PM
I heard she was from 1812 So I dont think it will be from the titanic it is probably going to be about the war
Posted by: Valerie | June 20, 2012 at 04:58 PM
yeah me to valerie it was official
Posted by: aglover | June 22, 2012 at 07:26 PM
Caroline's setting is from The War of 1812.
Posted by: Kamryn | June 22, 2012 at 08:04 PM
Yeah... I looked up war on 1812. I heard se comes out in September and my birthday is September 2nd!
Posted by: Mattie | June 22, 2012 at 09:27 PM
It seems to be that alot of people including me thought it was titanic era. Oh well I hope she has real true red hair, coppery red hair there isn't any dolls right now with that colour of hair and alot of people seem to agree. 1812 200 year celebration!
Posted by: Shawna | July 08, 2012 at 10:30 PM
I bet they're getting rid of Rebecca because if you look at the website, the books are on sale and some clothes are.
Posted by: Alicia | July 12, 2012 at 08:08 AM
When will the new doll be released?
Posted by: Kim | July 20, 2012 at 09:55 PM
If Caroline is from 1812, then yes, I would guess that she is from the War of 1812, which is now a 2 year bicentennial celebration in Baltimore MD. I am guessing that she lives in Baltimore and is somehow connected with Ft. McHenry in Baltimore, where Francis Scott Key wrote the Star Spangled Banner during this war.

can not wait untill caroline comes out sweet right
Posted by: brianna | July 25, 2012 at 10:54 AM
I think she is from the 1800's. So i agree with Robin that she will be from the war of 1812!
Posted by: Lauren | July 29, 2012 at 01:49 PM
I think I'll get her. But they might retire Josefina, She used to be the only doll who's parent died, until Marie-grace. Another proof is that Caroline is only 12 years away from her. Sad, especially for me because I have her and want her accessesories. :(
Posted by: Sydney | July 29, 2012 at 06:36 PM
I really want to get her even though I don't know what she looks like. I think she will have brown hair and blue eyes.
Posted by: AgLover | July 31, 2012 at 01:14 PM
She can't be on the titanic because, well, then an American girl would not really be in America. I also heard yes, war of 1812, long curly blonde hair with blue green eyes. No clue about story, though.
Posted by: RandomRoses11 | August 02, 2012 at 12:00 AM
I saw a picture of her! She's super pretty from a harbor in new York during the war of 1812 she has long wavy pale blond hair and I think brown eyes but I'm unsure . I have too many dolls already, but I still want her ! To see and read about her go to the AG Caroline abbot

Caroline is the daughter of a ship builder from Sackets Harbor, NY. My mom is SO EXCITED because she lives in Sackets Harbor and is very much into historic preservation (there were 2 battles in Sackets Harbor during the War of 1812). My mom also makes historically-accurate clothing part time. :)
Posted by: Meredith | August 09, 2012 at 10:49 PM
i get to get her yah!
Posted by: Reese | August 10, 2012 at 10:35 AM
OH MY GOSH!!!!! I've known about her for a while now and have already started to save up for her!!!
And yes, her story is near the sea! I think I read that her dad has a ship and she hopes to have her own ship someday! I can't wait for her to come out!!!!
Posted by: Jaclynn ( Bitty Beanies) | August 19, 2012 at 07:52 PM
I'm worried about who they're retiring also.... I have had my suspicions that it's going to be Rebecca because a few of her things have been on sale.... I would be really sad if that's true, but at least I have her and a few of her outfits :)
Posted by: Jaclynn ( Bitty Beanies) | August 19, 2012 at 07:56 PM
Love Caroline! Love Star Spangled Banner! Love 1812!
Posted by: Amelia Rose | September 07, 2012 at 12:28 AM
Jacylnn(Bitty Beanies) I doubt it is Rebecca because she IS somewhat new!
