One of my favorite things to see is creativity! My friend Dakota sent me a guest post of her doll sewing project. I'm so excited for her to show you, here she is...
Hi Everyone! I'm Dakota! A few months ago, I won Liz's giveaway for a membership to Rosie's Doll Clothes Patterns. We finally found the time to make the first project, the sport shorts!
My mom and I did the project together. She did the sewing...
And I did the ironing! It was so nice to spend some time with my mom and do some crafting together! And when we were finished it was all worth it because...
It turned out great! It looked like something that would come out of a store!
I was so surprised and excited to see how it turned out! We have an old sewing machine (it was originally purchased by my great grandmother) so we were worried entering this project and wondered if we should just hand sew it, but when we were finished, we were so glad we didn't! It was so nice making something for my dolls, and I have so many more things to make!
I just had to share this picture of McKenna sporting her new shorts! McKenna, my mom, and I highly recommend Rosie's doll clothes patterns!
~~~~~~~~~~~
Wow, they turned out amazing, Dakota!! Thanks for sharing about it with us!
Have you made anything for your doll(s) recently?
Ps~If you ever have anything to share, I'd love to see it! You can send to me at: email@americangirlfan.com Tomorrow is From a Friend Friday too, so if you'd like to join in, feel free to email me. :)
Those are so cute! I have a question for you Dakota: Does Mckenna have make-up on? I can't tell if it's just the pictures!
Wish I was good at sewing so I could make some!
Jaclynn-Now that you mention it her cheeks look quite rosy, but I don't know. Can you put make-up on dolls?
Posted by: Amelia Rose | October 04, 2012 at 10:37 PM
Jaclynn-I can sew fine-but not so good to do that! Maybe sometime I'll try the video-course. Have you ever tried to sew? I've been working on a mini-blanket which is coming along nicely. I also will learn to crochet as soon as my mom starts learning from our neighbor-I hope soon!
Amelia Rose:
You shouldn't but some people do! Its not just the cheeks though- her lips look redder like she has lip stick on and around her eyes it looks like theirs some make-up. hmmmm...
I can do a little hand sewing but not with a sewing machine! LOL! That's cool!
Oh that's good you'll be learning from someone to help you out! I occasionaly ask my mom for help or advice! My mom is seriously a crocheting wizard! Do you like Disney? She makes and can make any character you want!!! Her slogan is; "If you want it, I can make it!" And she is even backed up on orders for Halloween and had to tell everyone that she's not taking anymore Halloween orders! She's knida famous! LOL! Sorry if it sounds like bragging....LOL!
I have been learning to use a machine. My mom has been saying she's going to learn how to crochet and I am going to learn, too.I have always wanted to, but my mom doesn't know how and hasn't had me learn.
I looked at her Etsy shop. That Rapunzel wig is really cool!
On McKenna it DOES look a little extra pink. Why would anyone put makeup on dolls?
They already come with alittle rosy cheeks, and their lips I can't imagine in any color but natural.
Imagine Kit with purple lipstick-she'd look very VERY strange. I can't even imagine it!
Posted by: Amelia Rose | October 05, 2012 at 12:19 PM
I think the color on McKenna's eyes are REALLY shadow, of the eye lashes.
Posted by: Amelia Rose | October 05, 2012 at 12:59 PM
Jaclynn- Nope! She isn't wearing makeup. I don't even put makeup on myself! I guess she was just made that way! :)
Thanks again so so much Liz for putting this on your site! :)
Dakota; Okay. It looks a little like it does. Probably either came that way(which in the catalog it doesn't look like it does) or it is the lighting.
Thanks again Dakota for answering, I'm sure Jaclynn will too!
Amelia Rose:
Ohthat's cool! My mom is going to teach me how to use a sewing machine when it starts getting colder. LOL! We love coziness!
Oh you did? It is awesome! I have one and I wear it to DisneyLand sometimes! My mom always hands out a ton of business cards!
EW!!! Purple lip stick on KIT?!?!? YUUUUCK!!! LOL!
Dakota: WHEW! That's a relief! LOL! I don't wear makeup either! I guess it's just the picture then, huh?
Jaclynn: Nice!
Amazing how many things Disney your mom can make!
Exactly! Kit would look maybe goth! Make up on dolls in general is bad, but with purple lipstick, ick!
I don't wear make up either. I don't really like it!
Happy sewing
I know! She's insane! LOL!
Oh my gosh! LOL! Yeah- my dad says that the make-up wont make you look good, you'll make the make-up look good. LOL!
Yeah, make-up on dolls is horrible!
Posted by: Jaclynn (Bitty Beanies) | October 05, 2012 at 05:31 PM
Thank you, Rosie! I'm sorry I wasn't able to send you the pictures! I will no or you can just use those! :) Again, I'm so sorry everything here is really busy! :)
Makeup on an AG doll would be bad, it could ruin their skin and eyes! But on plastic dolls such as Barbies or Moster High dolls would be fine. It would probably rub off their skin!
Posted by: Mattie | October 06, 2012 at 08:06 PM
Jaclynn: Too true. My dad is TOTALLY against make-up, and I don't plan on wearing it. But my sister's LOVE it.
Posted by: Amelia Rose | October 06, 2012 at 08:25 PM
Mattie:
I agree! It wouldn't look good either! LOL!
Mattie and Jaclynn: No, it wouldn't. But it probably WOULD rub off. But who would draw on it just to wipe it off? Well, I suppose to find out. (:
