Is your doll thinking about what to eat? How about a sandwich? I'm going to show you how to make one today!
They are super easy and fun to make! Let's get started!
First you will need some supplies:
- Sheet of White Craft Foam with a half inch thickness (It's thicker than other craft foams, because this will be the bread slices)
- Sheet of Orange Craft Foam (I'm making a cheese sandwich, but you can use Purple and Tan for a PB&J sandwich too)
- Sheet of Tan Craft Foam
- Tacky Glue (Or Glue Dots)
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Scissors
- And, a parent/guardian to help you!
After you have all of your supplies, mark 3 inches across one of the corners of the white craft foam. The other edges of the triangle should be 2 inches across.
With your scissors cut out the triangle, and repeat the process to make another.
After you have your two white foam triangles (which will be the bread), it's time to make the filling! Use orange craft foam to make the cheese, using the same measurements as before. :)
Now, get out your tan craft foam and mark a half inch wide, and four inches across. This will be the crust on your bread!
After you have cut out all of your pieces, it's time to glue!
Remember a little glue goes a long way!
Once you have the bread and cheese glued together, you can glue on the crust.
Form the crust around the triangle before gluing to make sure you have it lined up right.
Then press firmly on the tan foam as you glue because it tends to pop up sometimes (at least it did for me). If you have a hard time gluing on the crust you can also use Glue Dots, a Glue Gun (with parents help) or Tape. Let dry for an hour or two before giving it to your doll.
Rebecca loves her cheese sandwich!!
I made a Peanut Butter and Jelly too! Isn't it cute?! (Using different colors of craft foam; like pink for ham or green for lettuce, you can come up with all kinds of sandwich combinations!)
If you make some doll sandwiches be sure to send us a picture at email@americangirlfan.com, we'd love to see! :)
Hope you have fun making these for your doll! Enjoy!!

How cute! Those remind me of the ones in Doll Dining and Doll School! I love the pb&j! So CUTE!

P.S. I just watched the new episode (of OUAT) and it was so good! Did you watch it yet Liz?

Liz would it still turn out good if I didn't use thicker craft foam for the bread slices?

hannah m:
I know I'm not Liz but I would think so! It wouldn't look as realistic but it would still be cute! LOL!

Cute idea! I'll have to look for craft foam the next time I'm buying arts & crafts supplies. I wonder if I could make bigger triangles and thus make a bigger sized sandwich for my son's Build-A-Bear stuffed animals? Maybe like 5 inch triangles instead of 3 inch ones or something.

Jaclynn: Yes, OUAT. There is a Wiki on it, ONCE UPON AT TIME WIKI, and they check it almost every day! I'm not as into it as they are, but I still watch it, they are CRAZY about it!!

Amelia Rose: Oh wow! Yeah I'm OBSESSED with it!!! LOLOL!

Jaclynn: There seems to be a wiki on everything! It is strange to think that OUAT premiered last year, and that it is the end of this year. Wow!

So cool!
I love these! I make my doll sandwitches out of cardboard foam and felt i cut two peices of cardboard then cut little squares of foam or felt in colors like pink for meat and yellow for cheese then i put the squares on the bread pieces and sew them together with a needle and brown thread and they turn out so cute!

I just made some! They are soooo cute! Only I used hot glue instead of regular glue and used darker brown craft foam for the crust. I can't wait to make more!
