Shout-Out Your Doll Site...with a Craft Mystery?

~ One of my favorite things to do when I'm not working on my own website, is to look at other girls' doll blogs and websites! I love seeing what fun things other girls are doing with their doll(s)! So, have you done anything fun on your doll site? Share it with us! Shout out your doll site by leaving a link below of your site's name and URL address.~

I thought this picture would be fun to share! A few days ago I went to Michael's Craft Store and got some supplies for 2 doll craft projects I'm going to do! I'm really excited and Addy is too...can you guess what I might be making? :)

How to Have a Doll Party: Make a Mini Blowout Horn!

I've been having a lot of fun sharing with you some party crafts that you can make for your American Girl doll! I've shown you how to make a doll cake and a doll balloon, but today I'm going to show you how to make a doll blowout horn like the one in this picture...

These blowout horns would be perfect for any doll party-including New Years! ;)

Let's get started!

 

First you will need some supplies:

• Colored or striped straws
• Pretty paper
• Shiny Chenille Stem (I got mine at Wal-mart, they were called "Glitter Sticks")
• Double-sided tape (you can use glue too, but for me double-sided tape works better)
• Scissors
• A ruler
• A pencil
• And, a parent or guardian to help you! :)

Once you have all of your supplies, choose what color paper you want, and grab your ruler and pencil. Measure and mark 1 1/2 in. wide by 2 1/2 in. tall piece of the paper.

Then, cut out the piece of paper with scissors.

When your piece of paper is cut out, pick the straw you want to use. :)

Cut the straw at 1 1/2 inches.

Now tear off a small piece of your double-sided tape, and put the piece of tape on the short paper edge.

Begin rolling the straw around the paper. If you need to, you can add more tape to the paper. After your done rolling, flatten the paper.

Use your pencil to roll the paper into a coil...you're almost done!

Pick what shiny chenille stem you want to decorate the blowout horn with, and cut 1 inch of it. Then, tape it on the center of your blowhorn.

Ta-da, your doll now has her very own blowout horn! These are so much fun and easy to make!

How to Have a Doll Party: Make a Balloon!

Last time I showed you all how to make a Cake for Your Doll! Today, I'm going to show you how you can make the doll sized balloon in this picture...

Let's get started! :)

First you will need some supplies:

• A 3-1/2 inch X 4-7/8 inch styrofoam egg
• Any colored tissue paper
• Glitter glue or any decorations
• Scissors
• Twist tie
• A wooden stick with a point that you will use later (not shown in the picture, but I used wooden sticks that you use to cook Shish Kababs)
• And, a parent or guardian to help you! :)

Here's a close-up of the Styrofoam Egg. I found these supplies at Michael's Craft Store, and they can be found at other craft stores too.

Once you have all of your supplies, pick your color of tissue paper and lay it flat on the table. Take your styrofoam egg and put the wide end in the center of the tissue paper. Pull the paper up, gather it, and secure the end with your twist tie.

 Cut off the extra tissue paper with your scissors, leaving about an inch of paper below the twist tie.

Then, take your wooden stick with a point, and stick it into the styrofoam. Be very careful not to put the stick in too far, or the point will go through the tissue paper. Your balloon should now look like this...

Now comes the fun part...Decorating!

I used pink glitter glue to decorate my doll's balloon, but you can decorate yours any way you want! If you use glitter glue, let it dry for a couple hours before letting your doll use it. :)

I hope your doll has fun with her balloon! Here is an easy way for your doll to hold her balloon...

Just use a rubber band (or even a doll elastic, like I did)! Then, slide the wooden stick inside the rubber band, and slip the rubber band over the back of your doll's hand as shown in the picture.
