Everybody loves ice cream! It's the perfect day for an ice cream cone too, don't you think? I'm going to show you how to make one for your doll to enjoy!
These are so much fun to make! Let's get started!
First you'll need some ingredients...supplies!
- Felt in Tan, White, and Brown (you could choose other colors if you'd like!)
- Cup with a three inch rim
- Scissors
- Polyfill or cotton
- Brown Puffy Paint
- Sewing thread and Needle
- Pen
- A sheet of paper
- Other decorations of your choice
- And, a parent/guardian to help you!
Once you have your supplies, take your cup and trace around it on your white felt. It should be around 3 inches across.
Cut out the felt circle and get out your needle and thread.
Sew simple stitches around the perimeter of the circle like shown.
As you get to the end of the circle, pull your thread tighter so that the felt starts to scrunch up.
Keep pulling until it's all the way tight...
It should look like this! Don't cut the thread yet, but get out your polyfill/cotton.
Stuff it up...you're almost done with your scoop of ice cream!
Tie off your thread and you have one vanilla scoop! Set that aside for now, we're going to make the cone. :)
With your cup again, trace a corner of your tan felt like shown.
Use your scissors to cut out the cone shape.
You might need to cut off some of the excess so that it won't be so round at the top.
Now you need to get out your sheet of paper and pen/pencil, to trace around the cone shape.
Cut out the shape and set that aside for later.
Fold your tan felt in half. With your needle and thread again sew it up!
It should look something like this! Cut off your thread, and now it's time to get out that paper you traced.
Roll up the paper cone shape...
Secure with tape and then stick it inside your felt cone.
This will make sure it keeps its shape.
You're almost done! All you have to do now is sew the scoop onto the top of your cone.
Yum! You can keep your doll ice cream plain or you can have some more fun, and add toppings!
I used brown fabric paint as chocolate syrup! (I also sewed on a little bit of dark brown felt)
Doesn't it look good?! If you use paint, let it dry for an hour or two before giving it to your doll to enjoy.
Felicity LOVES her ice cream cone!
You could make all kinds of flavors! :)
I hope you have fun making some ice cream for your doll! If you do, I'd love to see! Feel free to send me a picture at email@americangirlfan.com
