I think plants can brighten up any room and I love how they look! Cactus plants and succulents are two that I've been seeing everywhere lately, so I decided to make one for my American Girl dolls. This easy mini cactus is a great decoration!
The supplies you need are:
- Mini Ceramic Pot
- 6 Smooth Rocks
- Gravel/Mini Rocks
- White Paint
- Green Paint
- Hot Glue Gun
(I bought the smooth rocks in a pack at Michael's Craft store and the gravel I had in my own yard. You can buy rocks at any craft store. Also, the green paint colors I used are Craft Smart brand Apple Tart, Shamrock Green, and Holiday Green.)
1. First paint the pot white. You can paint it completely white or distressed like I did. To do that, dip your paintbrush into the white and paint on a paper plate or piece of paper, leaving only a little paint left on the brush. The brush strokes will show up faint when you paint the pot. This also dries quicker, which is nice! You can put the gravel inside the pot after it's dry. 2. Paint the six rocks different shades of green. 3. When they are dry make little designs on the rocks, like dots, lines, or stars to be the cactus needles. 4. Postion the rocks the way you want them and use hot glue to hold them in place at the bottom. I found it easier to glue the largest rock in the middle first and lean the others against it adding a bit of glue to each side of the rocks. And, you're done!!
Rebecca wonders how a little plant can be so cute?! ;)
Hope you have fun making a cactus plant for your doll! If you do, I'd love to see it! You can send me a picture to email@example.com or tag me on Instagram @creativedollcrafts
