I have recently been asked if I had ever used any other blogging platforms (like blogger), and it struck me with the thought that I have never told you the history of before and how I got this website! Here is my story...
I had wanted an American Girl website ever since my dad mentioned website making. My dad had and still has a website about Gardening, so he mentioned to me one day how cool it would be to have an American Girl website with information about the Historical dolls and stuff like that. (he knew I really like American Girl) He also thought it would be nice for me to learn about history and have fun at the same time.
I loved that idea so I started writing about each of the historical dolls and their books in a binder I decorated with all of the characters. I was about 12 or 13 at that time.
My decorated binder I made when I was 12 or 13.
Writing in my binder died away, but I still had it in my mind that I wanted a website.
My dad and I started trying to find website (blogging) platform for my website, and we also got a domain (http://www.americangirlfan.com). The name AmericanGirlFan was born! :)
We almost did the website platform called the Go Daddy Website Tonight, but didn't. I didn't do anymore stuff for my soon-to-be website for a year or two, though I still enjoyed playing with my American Girl Dolls. (I only had two dolls then, Molly and Elizabeth)
In my 8th grade year (my second year of homeschooling and I was 14) I became interested again in making an American Girl website, because I had free-time after doing school. My parents both had Blogspot blogs (now called blogger) and I thought they were really interesting and looked fun.
One night I set my very own blog up on blogger/blogspot called
"The Journey of my 4 Dolls". (Kit and Mia were added to my collection then) I posted pictures of my dolls and told about how I got them. It became hard to keep up with, so I didn't update regularly, I sometimes went a whole month without posting!

This same year, one day in the Summer, I was swimming in our small pool we had in my backyard. I was explaining to my dad that I wanted to have a new background for my blog/website. We soon got into a conversation about starting a new website on Typepad. I was kind of upset about doing that, though, because I thought that my blog was really good and I didn't want to start over. Soon after our conversation, my dad showed me how cool typepad was, and I got excited!
July 1st came, the day I started this website, and also put on my Very First Post! That day was really exciting for me. Ever since the first day I started my website I have enjoyed posting, and I have "met" lots of girls through comments. I never imagined the first day I posted, that my website would be like it is now! :)
That is how the American Girl Fan website came to be!
I am so thankful for all of you and it is so amazing that AmericanGirlFan has become such an enjoyable website for girls. :)
I hope you enjoyed learning the history of how AmericanGirlFan came to be, and you can still visit my first American Girl Blog. :)
Ps~ Speaking of how I started a website, guess what? My sister Hope just started her very own website all about Club Penguin, it is called Club Penguin Fan. Be sure to stop by, even if you have never heard about Club Penguin (she explains what it is). Leave a comment too, she would love to hear from you! :)
