As I might have said before, I LOVE the American Girl Mysteries! I have recently read the Kit Mystery: Danger At The Zoo . :)
This Kit American Girl Mystery takes place in the Monkey House at the Cincinnati Ohio, Zoo. It was really fun to read because I have been to the Cincinnati Zoo before, I live not too far from it! At the Peek into the Past section of the book it talked about the Monkey House and the Cincinnati Zoo in 1934. Well, the building that used to be the Monkey House in 1934, now holds the zoo's collection of reptiles! What is really neat is that shortly after I read the Kit Mystery, we got to go to the Zoo! :)
Here is what the Monkey House looked like in 1934...
Here is what the Monkey House, which is now the Reptile House looks like today...
Today, they don't use the whole building, only just part of it. When we went into the building I tried to imagine what it looked like when it had monkeys inside!
I had been to the Reptile House even when I was younger, so it was really cool trying to look at the building in a different perspective! :) After exiting the building my dad and I tried to find a sign that told about the building and we did, but it was hidden!
The sign told us that the Reptile House was the oldest zoo building in America!! Also, it housed monkeys and apes until 1951. Also, there was a faded picture above it, it was the same one that was in the Kit Mystery Book!! Isn't that awesome? :)
I just love history, especially when you are where history happened! Have you ever been to a Historical place? :)
