Dreaming of the Winter Olympics

This year on February 22nd, 2010 I did a photostory called "Dreaming of the Winter Olympics". This photostory was so much fun to make! My dad and I had it planned before the Winter Olympics started, and the idea was actually from my dad! He thought it would be fun to make a doll ice rink! The really cool thing about this photostory is that it is the ONLY photostory where we showed every doll me and my sister own. You can see all 11 of them in the picture above! I am sure that one day Mia's dream will come true, and all of her friends will come to see her! :)

Easter Egg Hunt & Surprises

On April 12th, 2009 I did a photostory of my American Girl doll's celebrating Easter called Easter Egg Hunt & Surprises. Yesterday, I was looking through some older pictures on my computer, and I came across some pictures my dad took of me doing this photostory! It is so fun to look back, so here are the "behind-the-scenes" pictures...

Taking pictures of my dolls means getting down low! Also, if you look at the left corner that is my mom's laundry basket! I used it to carry my dolls around my backyard! :)

It was so windy that day, and my doll's hair had fly-aways. So, I brushed their hair a lot. :)

Here is a tip I do to get my American Girl doll's to hold things, like this basket! I use...foam sticky dots! You can get sticky dots at lots of craft stores-they really come in handy! Just don't have your doll have the sticky dot on her hand for a long time, or it will leave a sticky residue.

Fun in the Snow with Kit and Mia

On January 15th, 2010 I did a post called Fun in the Snow with Kit and Mia. This year we got a lot of snow, and that is my favorite time to take pictures of my dolls! I guess it's because our whole backyard changes when it snows. I know it's Summer, but here are tips on how I take pictures of my American Girl dolls out in the snow! :D

1) I make sure to dress them warm! They would look silly with shorts on, hehe :)

2) I be sure that they have waterproof shoes on, like boots.

3) I don't take them outside if snow is falling, I wait until it stops and all is clear.

4) I use a doll stand. I use white inexpensive 18 inch doll stands from Michael's Craft Store. I don't want want my dolls to fall!

5) I make sure my doll is sturdy before taking a picture.

6) I don't lay my doll down into the snow, I try to only have them stand up-or their clothes will get wet.

7) I only stay outside for a few minutes, and then go back inside to warm up! :)

I hope you liked my tips! (Make sure to ALWAYS have a parent's permission if you ever take your dolls outside in the snow).
