It was a cool Autumn day and Felicity and Addy were at the Pumpkin Patch! They wanted to find the perfect sized pumpkin to care-for a fun fall craft!
They both walked through the many pumpkins looking at all the different shapes and sizes. The girls didn't know there so many kinds of pumpkins!
"Hey Felicity," Addy called, "What about this pumpkin? It's really tall!"
"That pumpkin is cute, but maybe we should get a more rounder one. Wow, look this one is flat!" Felicity said while sitting down next to Addy. She put the flat pumpkin in her lap and giggled.
Addy giggled too at the funny looking pumpkin Felicity pointed out. As she was getting ready to say a joke about it, her eyes came upon the most perfect pumpkin she had ever seen! Felicity followed Addy's gaze and saw the pumpkin too!
"That one is perfect!" they both said together.
After coming back home from the pumpkin patch the girls were excited to start carving their pumpkin! Though, they first had to get all the yucky goop out of it.
"I'll carve the top off." Addy said while holding the carving knife carefully.
"I can get the pumpkin goop out." Felicity offered, she wasn't too good at carving yet. :)
Addy carefully cut through the top of the pumpkin, tracing a jagged circle around it.
After Addy finished, Felicity popped off the lid and started to dig in!
"Eww, it is so slimy!" Felicity said with a funny face that made Addy laugh, which made Felicity laugh too. Addy helped Felicity get the goop out, until there was a huge bowlful.
"Yummy!" Addy joked about the non-appetizing pumpkin goop.
The girls cleaned up the table before getting ready to carve their pumpkin. Addy thought the pumpkin goop would make great compost for the garden.
"Now let's draw a cute face!" Addy said handing Felicity a pencil.
Felicity drew a very happy-looking face on the pumpkin.
"Your a good drawer Lissie!" Addy complimented while carving out the pumpkin's eye.
"Well, thanks!" Felicity said with a smile, Addy was so nice.
Addy continued to carve the other pumpkin's eye, and then it's triangular nose. When she came to the mouth she thought it would be fun to teach Felicity how to carve.
Felicity wasn't too sure about carving, but Addy wanted her to have fun!
"Am I doing okay?" Felicity asked, a bit proud that she was doing so well. "Yep, you are doing great." Addy answered. Felicity punched out the mouth piece and there was the cute Pumpkin smile, along with it's eyes and mouth.
"Yay! We're done," Felicity said jumping up from her chair,"It's getting dark, let's go see what the pumpkin looks like lit up!"
"Oooh, yeah!!" Addy said grabbing the battery operated candle from the table. The girls put on their jackets and picked up their now-cute pumpkin.
Once outside Addy put the battery candle inside the pumpkin and turned it on.
The pumpkin was all a-glow shining it's wide smile.
Plus, Felicity and Addy looked as happy as their pumpkin did. They had picked out the perfect pumpkin, and had a perfect fun fall day!
