I got a recent comment from my new friend Kelly Hope, and she asked if I had any fun ideas on playing with American Girl dolls. Well, one of my old 2006 American Girl Imagine Magazines has the answer!!
Here are some ways you can play with your American Girl doll this Spring...
- Pick a dandelion bouquet for your doll. Slip the flowers in a tiny jar.
- Keep her cool on sultry spring days with a paper fan. Accordian-fold a sheet of pretty patterned paper to make a fan.
- Put on a concert. Name a band and make your doll the lead singer. Dress her like a star!
- Help your doll plant a garden. Fill egg carton cups with soil then stick in bean, flower, or herb seeds. Slip the carton onto a cookie sheet, and water when needed. Place in a sunny window.
- Roll a sock into a ball, then invite dolls over for a soccer match. Name your teams!
- Match her coolest outfit to a specially made headband using sewing trims or ribbon scraps. Tie the band under her hair in back.
- Give her a superpower! Help her fly through the air or become invisible.
- Show her support! Slip on mini rubber bands for care bracelets.
- Braid yarn to make your doll a jump rope.
- Write a rhyme about her. Start it with "Roses are red". Be creative!
- Create a hopscotch game using white crayon on black paper.
- Picnic in the backyard together. Spread lunch out on a beach towel.
- Try a different hairstyle...braids! (1. Make a part down the back of your doll's head. Tie off pigtail. Divide the hair for the other pigtail into 3 equal sections. 2. Cross the section on your right over the center section. Then cross the section on your left over the center section. 3. Continue crossing over the sections until the hair is braided. Tie off with an elastic. Repeat on other side.)
I hope these ideas give you all a little inspiration and fun with your doll!
