Maybe it's because I have slightly curly hair, but I LOVE curly hair! To me, soft bouncy curls are so beautiful! But, sometimes it can be hard to come up with hairstyles that don't mess up curls. Same goes for curly doll hair!
So, today I'm going to show you a few hairstyles that work well with doll curls!
Curly Bun. This is so easy and a quick way to do an up-do. First gather your dolls hair in high ponytail and tie off with a hairtie (for curls stretchy cloth elastics or scrunchies work best). Then with bobby pins or hair pins take a few of the curls and pin them near the hairtie.
To dress up the bun, use some ribbon to make a headband!
Hope's doll Kenley looks ready to go! ;)
Back-Flip. I love this one on Cecile! First make a partial ponytail by pulling the sides to the back. Tie off with a hairtie. Then, flip the ponytail over itself one or two times.
Add a pretty barrette for a final touch! This bow clip I borrowed from my sister, it's really a clip for girls! Keep an eye out for inexpensive clips in stores for girls...they can work well for dolls too.
Falling Braids. For dolls with slightly curly hair like Rebecca you can still braid. For this style, first make four small braids, one in the front and three on the side, and tie off with elastics.
When you braid the front be sure to leave around an inch between the other braids, like the picture above. (That's because you will need those small pieces to braid.) Seperate the two sections and combine with the front braid. Braid down and then bring to the side to clip or bobbypin.
I hope these hairstyles bring you some inspiration to give your doll a new hairdo! Most of these would work on dolls with straight hair too!
If you try any of these hairstyles or come up with your own, I'd love to see! Feel free to send me a picture at [email protected].
Happy styling! :)
