In the wintertime my dolls love to be warm...and stylish! Today I'm going to show you how to make a stylish Winter headband for your doll!
They are perfect to keep your doll's ears from the chill in the air, but so cute and best of all EASY! Let's get started!
First, you'll need some supplies:
- Stretchy fleece in any design or color (I got a half yard of each at Joann's for 50% off, it was only barely $2 for each!)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Thread
- Sewing Needle
- Buttons or other embellishments
- And, a parent/guardian to help you!
Once you have all your supplies, get out your fleece! Measure 12 inches. as big as the ruler, and cut a strip of fleece that long and an inch wide.
After its cut, fold it like shown below...
Line up the edges and then get out your needle and thread!
Make sure to tie a knot at the end and then slip the two pieces of thread through the needle.
Start making a few stitches by going through the bottom first then stitch back through.
You don't need to have a lot of sewing skills, we're just making some basic stitches to hold the headband together. :)
When you get to the end, tie another knot and cut off the thread! Yay, you sewed your doll's headband!
Now its time for some embellishing!! Ask your mom if she has any old buttons to spare or buy some from a craft store. You can also use puffy paint or fabric markers to decorate your doll headband!
I used a pretty button in our stash, I think Kit loves it!!
We hope you have fun making your own doll headbands!! Here's a few more headbands I made...
I traced a flower design on felt to make the purple embellishment! :)
These stripes are my favorite and I sewed on a button too!
