Every celebration calls for...a Pinata! With Cinco de Mayo and birthdays coming up, I thought it would be fun to show you how to make one for your doll!
These are so fun and easy! Let's get started!
First you will need some supplies:
- A Mini Paperbag (I got mine at Michaels Craft Store for 89 cents next to the wrapping paper and birthday stuff. You can also use a toilet paper roll for this craft)
- Crepe Streamers in two different colors
- Sheet of tissue paper
- Scissors
- Tape
- Thin and thick ribbon
- Stapler (optional)
- And a parent/guardian to help you!
When you have your supplies, first crumple and stuff your piece of tissue paper in the mini bag. This will make your pinata full and easier to create! :)
Cut a piece of crepe paper about eight to twelve inches. Cut small strips about a half inch across.
After your done cutting, wrap the paper around the bottom of your bag, letting the strips hang. Use a piece of tape to keep in place.
Do the same to a second piece of crepe paper in a different color, and layer on top of your first piece.
Continue taping and layering strips, until the whole bag is covered! Use your fingers to seperate the strips, giving your pinata a crinkled look.
You're almost done! Staple or tape the opening. :)
To make the handle look prettier, use some matching ribbon and wrap it around!
Also, tape some thin ribbon to the bottom of your pinata to make it more festive!
To make a pinata stick, use a small wooden dowel or pencil, and wrap pretty ribbon around it!
And, ta-da!! Your doll has her very own Pinata to share with friends! Do you think Josefina can get all the candy with one hit? :)
If you make a pinata for your doll I'd LOVE to see! Feel free to send me a picture at [email protected]
Happy Crafting, and most of all have FUN! :)
