I hope you all had a fun-filled week! These dolls sure look like they did, take a look...
Jeneca's dolls Kanani and Mia planted a tree for Earth Day!
It's getting colder in Brazil for Pauline! Her doll Annie (MAG#55) is wearing Molly's Skating Outfit Coat! She looks beautiful in red!
She made two buns in Annie's hair too! Doesn't she look pretty? (Check out Pauline's youtube channel too, at www.youtube.com/TheLittlePauline)
From Sarah-Abbie is going now to drama school. I told her not to have her cell phone! The play took place 200 years ago.
Lacey had some doll-sized finds! Her mom found little Apples to Apples game at the dollar store (Family Dollar) where they have the party favors. You can't beat two mini sets for $1!
And Lacey found the candle mug at Dollar Tree last week. Again, for a dollar, you can't pass up something doll-sized and adorable!! (Plus she says it smells yummy!) ;)
My friend Abbie and her mom turned her old playhouse bed into a house for Molly and Emily. The lower floor is their dressing area. The clothes, purses, hankies, etc. are in the drawers, with shoes on top. They used Tinker Toys for dowel rods to hang the dresses from, and there is a “hope chest” in the right corner.
Emily loves her new dressing area!
The upper floor is where they sleep. They have a daybed with a trundle bed pull out.
It turned out so cute! :)
Alanna and her doll Rebecca have three fun projects to share for the warmer months coming up!
From Alanna: The fan is quite easy to make - I found a PDF on the American Girl Publishing site, here's the link: http://www.americangirlpublishing.com/media/Spring2012/AG_CM_Fans.pdf
I simply printed it out and colored the doll template. I would recommend attaching a piece of card at the back of the fan, as well as a bit of ribbon so your doll won't lose it easily :)
Now to the second project! The handkerchief is even easier to make - just cut a small square out of a piece of pretty fabric, then you're done! I'm thinking of embroidering an R on Rebecca's handkerchief, since it looks a bit plain to me...or I might even create a border with ribbon!
And finally, the skirt. I made the skirt out of a really thin kind of fabric,
so it's kind of see-through...but not really. So here are the instructions:
1. Measure a piece of fabric around your doll's waist. Cut a large piece out of
the fabric (for a loose skirt, let the fabric overlap around your doll's
waist).
2. (Optional, but that's what I did for this skirt) Cut a long piece of ribbon, and sew it at the bottom of the fabric. (This will probably prevent the fabric from fraying.)
3. Sew the two ends of the fabric together. (To make the stitches "invisible", turn the skirt inside-out and sew it from there. When you're done with the sewing, turn it back over.)
4. Put the skirt on your doll's waist, and cut about 6 holes at the back of the skirt (near the waist, don't cut the part that you just sewed). Weave a piece of ribbon through the holes, then pull the two ends of the ribbon towards the middle - this will help you fasten the skirt to your doll.
5. You're done!
Hope you all have an awesome weekend!
