Happy May Day! Can you believe it's already May? Back then, girls would celebrate the new season by making flower chains to wear. My dolls absolutely love flowers, so I made a pretty floral headband. I'm going to show you how to make one for your doll too!
These are so easy and fun!! Let's get started!
First you'll need some supplies:
- Four Pipecleaners (I used two different colors)
- Thick or thin ribbon
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Gluedots, tape, or glue
- Fabric flowers (I got mine at Joann's, but they have them at all craft stores!)
- And, a parent or guardian to help you!
Once you have all your supplies get out two of your pipecleaners, each one different. Put them together and twist.
Do the same to your other pipecleaners so that you now have two twisted pipecleaners! :)
Then twist the two pipecleaners together so that you have a long one!
With the pipecleaner, measure around your doll's head. Pinch the pipecleaner with your finger to keep the measurement as you take it off your doll.
Cut off the excess pipecleaner. You can use your ruler to make sure the measurement is around 13-14 inches.
Twist again to form a circle, now you have your headband! Get out your ribbon...here comes the fun part, decorating!
Wrap your ribbon loosely around your headband to give it a pretty festive look! Once you reach the end, secure with tape or a gluedot.
Cut more small and long pieces of ribbon, these you are going to tie around the headband.
See? How cute is that!
Now for the final touch, add some fabric flowers with a gluedot or tape! :)
Ta-da! Now your doll has a beautiful headband to celebrate Spring!
Rebecca really likes hers! :)
I hope you have fun making a headband for your doll! If you do, I'd LOVE to see! Feel free to send me a picture at [email protected]
Wishing you and your dolls a lovely May!
