"Sew Goes It" Interview & Giveaway!

I've always loved History, especially fashions from the past! It's so cool to see the different clothing styles worn by girls back then. Julia from the Sew Goes It Etsy Shop thinks so too! She makes and sells beautiful American Girl historical clothes of different time periods.

When did you learn how to sew?

I learned to sew 30 years ago. Sewing and crafting has always been a part of my life. My mother taught me to sew and my grandmother taught me to crochet.

Where does your inspiration come from?

My inspiration for my sewing comes from the fabric. I look at a piece of fabric and imagine what the dress will look like, what trims to use and what accessories will complete the outfit.

Do you have any American Girl dolls yourself? Do you have a favorite?

I have nine American Girl dolls, a set of twins and a Bitty Baby. I started with a JLY doll that I styled after my daughter and started collecting after that. So she would be my favorite, but I love all of them and can't wait to add more to my family.

What is your favorite part about having your shop, Sew Goes It?

My favorite part is making my doll clothes, knowing that someone likes them and is going to play with them. I have recieved several pictures of my clothes from buyers and they hold a special place in my heart.

Happy Friday! I hope you all enjoyed your week, I know I sure did! I'm excited to share these adorable doll pictures sent in too, take a look...

From Gaby: On Wednesday at my school we had a fun fair, and they had raffles and one of the prizes was an American girl doll-Marie Grace and I bought 5 ticket each a dollar and I WON!!! So I got her for $5.00!!!

Wow, congrats Gaby! Isn't her Marie-Grace pretty?

Lacey found some really cute baskets at the Christmas Tree Store that were doll-sized a few days ago. The little one was twenty-nine cents and the big one was forty-four cents...what a steal! McKenna is directing Cecile and Felicity on where to set up for a picnic. Coconut is tagging along for the trip as well...though the girls may not know it. Hehe ;)

Last weekend there was a new addition to Autumn's house! Her doll Kelsey is now a proud big sister! Autumn got a Berenguer La Newborn preemie doll and have named her Lyra. So sweet!

Jan's doll Elsie is admiring the beautiful flowers on her stroll outside! :)

Meg did the Knotted Twisback hairstyle on her doll Caroline! I think it turned out beautiful! :)
