Sometimes it's fun to just clown around, right? Today I'm going to show you how to make a silly hat for dolls!
These are so much fun and easy too! Let's get started!
First you'll need some supplies:
- Felt
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Sewing thread & needle
- Hot glue (or regular glue works too)
- Ribbon or yarn
- Piece of paper
- And, a parent/guardian to help you!
First on a sheet of paper measure 9 inches wide by 4 inches tall, to make a half circle.
Cut out with your scissors. This piece of paper will be your pattern.
Lay the paper on a piece of felt and cut around it.
When that's finished, roll your felt half circle into a cone...
It's time to get out your needle and thread!
We're going to sew the felt closed, to turn it into a real hat.
Sew simple stitches all the way up the hat.
Your hat should look something like this! Now for the fun part...
...decorations! With other various colors of felt, cut out small circles. Also, cut out three long strips of three different colors.
Using the strips of felt, braid them! You might need someone to help you hold the felt while braiding. To keep the braid together, sew a stitch or two at the end.
I used a hot glue gun to put on my decorations, but you can use regular glue too. If you do use a hot glue gun, make sure you have a parent/guardian to help you. :)
First glue the braided felt around the rim of the hat.
Then start glueing on the dots!
So cute! :)
For a final touch, cut out small strips of felt about an inch long.
Gather them together, to make a pom-pom. Glue to the top of the hat. Then glue some ribbon or yarn to the inside of the hat so that you can tie on your doll's head.
Ta-daa! Your doll now has her very own clown hat! Dress her up in funny mix-matched clothes and cut out a small red circle to be a clown nose.
Kit looks ready to put on a show! haha :D
I hope you have fun making a hat for your doll. These can also be made as party hats too! If you do make one, I'd LOVE to see! Feel free to send me a picture at [email protected]
Happy Crafting!
