I've always loved fairies, including Tinkerbell! They are so cute! Today I'm going to show you how to make some pretty fairy wings for your doll!
These are so fun and easy to make! Let's get started!
First you'll need some supplies:
- Pipecleaners (I used some sparkly ones!)
- Glitter Tulle
- Glue dots
- Scissors
- Ribbon (optional)
- And, a parent/guardian to help you!
Once you have all your supplies, pull out 5 pipecleaners.
Bend a pipecleaner in a dog-ear shape, like shown above.
Then, twist at the bottom. Repeat with a second pipecleaner.
When you have two shaped pipecleaners twist them both together.
Repeat the process until you have two pairs of wings! Now pull out another pipecleaner, which you will use to join the wings together.
Wrap the pipecleaner around the middle to secure the two wings.
Yours should look something like this! :)
Now it's time to get out that Glitter Tulle! I got a roll of it at Michael's Craft Store for only $2.99, it was near the wedding section. Cut a small section of it.
Make sure lots of glue dots are handy! I used the ultra-thin ones.
Peel off a glue dot and stick it onto one of the pipecleaner wings...
Repeat until one wing is stuck on the tulle. You want it to be held in place. :)
With your scissors, carefully cut around the wing, removing the extra tulle.
Add a few more glue dots so the tulle will stick onto the pipecleaner. Do the same to all four wings.
Beautiful!!! And, you're almost done!
Pull out 2 more pipecleaners to make straps, so your doll can wear the wings! I tried using ribbon at first, but pipecleaners worked best for me. You can still use ribbon if you'd like to do that.
Twist and make two circular shapes, like straps on a backpack. After that's done you can put the wings on your doll!! :)
See how the straps work well?
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's....Saige the Fairy!
Saige just loves her wings!
I hope you have fun making some fairy wings for your doll! It's the perfect costume or for dress-up! If you do make some, I'd LOVE to see, feel free to send me a picture at [email protected]. Or you can enter in my Doll Costume Photo Contest! :)
Remember, all you need is a little faith, trust, and pixie dust! Happy crafting!
