Happy Friday!! can't believe today is the last day of February. I'm so looking forward to March though, one step closer to Spring and my birthday too! Yay! It looks like lots of dolls had fun this week, let's take a look at the pictures and videos sent in...

CountryDollStudio's doll Harper is modeling the Pretty Pink American Girl outfit she won in our Valentine's Day Doll Photo Contest!

Annie shared some pictures of the new doll exclusives at the American Girl store in Seattle! These are so cute!!

Lots of shirts, hats, shorts, and jeans! (Note from Liz: Those jeans are my doll's favorite, if you ever go--get them! They are so worth it!)

From Diana--The weather here in the Tennessee/Appalachian mountains area was unseasonably nice last weekend, so Josefina went out to play! (You can watch above or on her YouTube Channel)

 

 

From Emma--As many of you know, I went to AGP two Saturdays ago, and sent in my pictures last Friday. But…..I didn’t tell you what I got! So…*drumroll please*…here are my reviews! First comes Isabelle’s white leotard. This leo is very pretty, and incredibly soft, and I love the flower gathering detail at the neckline.

 

The only bad thing about it is that it is VERY hard to get over tights, and also the velcro can very easily snag tights, which it has already done to mine. So, you have to be very careful and patient putting it on with tights. I also like the scoop neck in the back. It fits very well, and it is a nice quality fabric. Cecile likes pairing it with her tap skirt, shoes and a fancy boa for tap dance! (I made this skirt using fringe trim found at Hobby Lobby yesterday) I would rate this 4 stars out of 5. (Yah, I got the rating idea from Little House of American Girl.)

 

 

Next is Isabelle’s coral sweater. This sweater is a very gorgeous color, and it is very easy to get on. I L.O.V.E. the thumbholes, they add such a nice stylish touch! I also love that this isn’t restricted to dance. As you can see, Felicity loves to wear it for skating practice! In all the reviews online at AG, they said the material was SO soft, but to me it isn’t as soft as it is textured. It has a very metallic feel to it, which I love. The Velcro goes all the way down in the back; very helpful. This material can snag too, so be careful with that. I would rate this 5 out of 5 stars.

 

Onto Isabelle’s scrunch pants! These have to be my fave from her collection! The material is also very soft, and the sequin band is so cute! The sequins are very secure, and not one has fallen off or even gotten loose! They do look dorky if you don’t scrunch them. They go with SO many things, too. These are very easy to get on, so I don’t have one complaint with them! The rating for these is…10 out of 5stars! Hehe

Last comes the Gold Brocade dress. This was on sale for $22! I love that the fabric is stiff, but not too stiff. Just enough to shape it how you like it. The little rosettes are SOOOOO cute! The brocade isn’t only swirls, it has the trademark stars on it. The tights are very nice, and a perfect thickness. The only problem with this outfit is that the shoes are DEVILISHLY hard to get on.I have been having especial trouble with the right shoe, for some reason. They are very cute, though. The headband might be my fave part! It is so detailed with the sequins, and very easy to slip on. It had a humongous tag, which I cut off. This dress looks good on any doll, even a doll with light coloring. (Like with hair the same color as the dress;)) I would rate this 4 out of 5 stars, because of the shoes.

How to Make Doll Mittens (With Free Pattern!)

Where I am, the weather has been super cold!! So I thought I'd make some cute & stylish mittens to keep my doll's hands warm...

These are so fun and easy too! I've even made a pattern just for you. (Hey that rhymed!)

Let's get started!

First you'll need a few supplies:

• Fleece or Felt (Any leftover scraps work great!!)
• Scissors
• Needle & Thread
• Mitten Pattern
• And a parent/guardian to help you!

If you don't want to sew the mittens, you can always use glue too!

Before we get into how to make the mittens, here is the free pattern!

Print Doll Mitten Pattern

Click the link or picture above to print out the pattern. (You will need the free Adobe Acrobat reader to download and print, but your computer may already have it, if not you can get it at Adobe.com)

Once you have all you need, cut out the mitten pattern. If you'll be sewing, cut outside the black line, if you'll be gluing, cut inside the black line. It will make them fit better.

 

 When you've cut out the pattern, lay it onto your piece of fleece or felt, and begin cutting around it.

Looks good! You'll need to cut out 4 of these.

When that's done, stack two of the pieces together...

Now it's time to get out that needle & thread! This stitch takes only 4 simple steps, watch carefully...

First, stick needle in the fleece and sew like a normal stitch, but don't pull tightly!

Then, bring the needle under the small loop of the stitch and pull through.

"Sew" cute!! Continue sewing around the mitten, but of course don't sew the bottom edge--your doll's hand needs a place to go. :)

If you decide to glue the mitten together, place glue along the edges where the stitches would be and DONE! I love the handmade look of the stitches though.

Repeat the steps to make the other mitten, and now you have a pair! I kept mine plain pink, but you can always decorate them with buttons, beads, fabric paint, glitter, whatever you would like.

Kit loves her mittens! The perfect and practical winter accessory!
