Doesn't a glazed donut with chocolate icing sound so good right now? I've always loved donuts and I thought it would be fun to make some for my dolls to enjoy!
These are so cute! And once you get the hang of it, they are simple to make too. Let's get started!
First you'll need some ingredients...supplies! ;)
-
Light brown felt
- Dark brown felt (or any color you'd like the icing to be!)
- Scissors
- Small cup
- Ruler
- Sewing needle & thread
- Glue
- Polyfill stuffing
- Marker
- And, a parent/guardian to help you!
Once you have all that you need, trace around the small cup to make two circles. They should be 2 inches wide.
Cut out the circles with your scissors.
Put the two felt circles together and fold over. Snip a tiny hole in the middle.
When you're done, unfold the circles...
And now your felt really looks like a donut!
Next, place the circles back on top of each other, and get out that needle and thread! :)
It's time to start sewing! Sew simple stitches around the circle. Continue until you have just a little bit left and don't cut the thread. You'll need it to sew up the rest. :)
Now flip your donut inside out.
Then it's time to sew around the hole in the middle. Try to do small, even stitches.
Here comes the fun part! ;) Stuff the donut until it's round and full. You might need a pencil to push the stuffing towards the back.
After it's all stuffed, you'll need to sew it closed. Use the leftover un-cut thread to finish stitching the donut.
To make icing for your donut, cut out a circle of felt (I used brown for chocolate). Make squiggles to make it look more real. Be creative, there are all types of ways to decorate the donut! :) You can even sew on beads or embroider sprinkles to give it a cuter look.
Use glue to attach the icing. I'm using a glue gun, but you can use any kind of glue.
Make sure the glue is all dry and then you can give it to your doll!
Yummy!! Don't they look delicious?!
Kenley can't wait to dig in! :)
I hope you have fun making one for your doll! If you do, I'd love to see! Feel free to send me a picture at [email protected]
Enjoy! What's your favorite kind of donut? :)
