Many of you have wondered how I care for Rebecca's curls and I'm so excited to share some tips with you today. This is what works for me and I hope it will help you out too!
My two main essentials are a spray bottle and a doll hairbrush. Always use a doll hairbrush and not your own. I can't stress this enough! The reason is because the oils in your own hair can take away the shine from your doll's hair and make it frizzy.
I don't ever brush all the way through curly hair with a hairbrush. I use it as a tool. This is such an easy way to curl your doll's hair and can be fun too! Take a section of your dolls hair and place it on the brush. Then give it a twist!
I always twist to the left, it makes a nice bouncy curl!
Keep twisting until it's tight.
Slowly drop the brush and brush the ends.
Now you have a pretty curl! The thickness of the curl depends on how much hair you twist. I like Rebecca's curls to be bigger so I use more hair. If you want smaller curls, just twist smaller sections.
I don't always use a brush though, I also finger-curl! Fiddling around with the hair can make curls too. Since it's quicker, that's what I do most of the the time unless her hair has a lot of flyaways.
Speaking of flyaways, if your doll's hair is getting dry or fuzzy, use a spray bottle! Using this before you curl is so helpful too!
Another tip I recommend is...braiding! I know some might be scared to braid curly hair because they think it will take out the curl or mess it up. Actually, it puts in a curl!! I do this on Saige's hair a lot and it works great. For the best results spritz the hair with water before braiding and leave in for 3-5 days. This can give straight hair a temporary curl too. :)
The last tip I want to give to keep curly hair nice is to use your hands as much as possible. I know it's super tempting to want to brush all the way through it, but how I kept Rebecca's hair the way it is; is by touching it more with my fingers than a brush. It keeps her curls looking beautiful! Another thing I've realized with Rebecca is that her curls never stay the same. Every time I fix her curls, they're different! I think that's what makes curly hair so fun though.
Rebecca's all ready to go see her friends!
