What's In My American Girl Collection: AG Exclusives!

It's time for another peek into my collection! I thought it'd be fun to share some American Girl Exclusive clothing pieces. I've gotten these over the years at the American Girl store, on AG sales, and some were given to me. They are so great for mixing-and-matching!

First up is Mia wearing a pair of American Girl Pajamas that I got at the American Girl Place Chicago in 2008. I LOVE the star leggings, they look awesome with other outfits!

Next is Saige decked out in all AG from head to toe!

 

The Chicago hat was a souvenir from my cousin when she went to the American Girl Place in the early 2000s.

The Atlanta t-shirt and American Girl jeans I got back in 2012 when I went to the store there. If you ever have the opportunity to buy these jeans, DO IT! They are amazing quality and I use them all the time! I love them and wish American Girl sold these seperately online.

The hoodie & shoes I got during a Cyber Monday sale in 2011. The shoes are adorable! :)

Kit looks so sweet in pink! The Denver t-shirt is also from the 2011 Cyber Monday American Girl sale. I love the sparkly star on the shirt!

These pink capris were a souvenir gift from my friend Lacey when she went to an American Girl Fashion Show!

Finally, here's Ivy in an American Girl Place Los Angeles shirt I got on an American Girl sale. I think the design on this shirt is really unique!

Doll Pet Craft: Make a Horse Bridle!

Not many people know, but I'm a fan of horses! I use to watch the show Saddle Club a ton, I've gone to many rodeos, and have dreamed of one day owning a horse of my own. That of course hasn't happened yet, but when I was at a yard sale a few years ago I found a pretty horse for my dolls!

 

Today I'm going to show you how to make a custom horse bridle for your doll's horse! It's so fun and much easier than it looks. Let's get started!

 

First you'll need a few supplies:

• Parachute Cord in any color (Like the kind you use to make bracelets. I got the 18 ft and it was plenty!)
• Duck Tape
• Scissors
• Ruler

Once you have all you need measure and cut a piece of cord 12 inches in length.

Then measure another piece 7 inches in length.

   

Form the 12 inch piece into a half circle and place the 7 inch piece beneath it. Make sure that the half circle is somewhat centered.

Use duck tape to connect those pieces together. Then with the 7 inch bottom piece, turn that into a small circle.

Put duck tape all around it to secure.

It should look something like this! :)

Now measure a piece of cord 11 inches in length.

Place that across the top, about two inches down.

See? :)

Now use your duck tape again to secure those pieces together.

Turn that long piece into a circle too and tape together. 

Your bridle should look something like this. Use some more duck tape to cover the entire thing if you'd like. :)

Doesn't it look so cute?! To finish off cut a longer piece of cord at least 14 inches to be the reins.

Tape that piece to the smallest circle in front...and you're finished!!

Here's how to put the bridle on your doll's horse. Loop the reins over first...

Slip the big circle on and then the smallest circle, pushing up tight.

Finally, loop the rest over the horse's ears.

Doll Recipe: Make a Snow Cone!

Snow Cones are the perfect cool treat on a Summer day. My doll's were in the mood for one, so I thought it'd be fun to make them!

I love these snow cones and they are super easy too. Let's get started!

First you'll need some supplies:

• 1.5 inch Styrofoam Balls 
• Acrylic Paint in any color
• Paintbrush
• White Glitter
• Low-Heat Hot Glue Gun (or regular glue works too)
• Craft Stick or lollipop stick
• Paper Bowls
• Scissors
• And, the Paper Cone Template!

Before we get into the craft, here is the free pattern for the paper cones. You'll need this later to put your snow cone in.

Print Paper Cone Template

Click the link or picture above to print out the template. Cut around the lines and set aside.

Once you have everything you need, pick a paint color and pour a little into a paper bowl. This will be the color/flavor of your doll's snow cone. You can do one color, two colors, or even three!

Then, poke a craft stick or lollipop stick (even a pencil would work ok) through the styrofoam ball. This is only temporary, it will make painting easier.

Dip your paintbrush into the paint and start painting a thin coat onto the styrofoam ball. Remember a little goes a long way! 

Keep painting until the ball is covered! (Since the stryofoam ball it is supposed to be ice, it's alright if you don't paint the whole thing)

Now for the fun part--the white glitter! I got this Martha Stewart coarse glitter in Crystal at Michael's Craft Store and it works great.

While the paint is still wet, sprinkle a generous amount of glitter on the styrofoam ball.

This gives it a nice look, like real shaved ice! Let this dry for at least 30 minutes or longer.

Now to make the paper cone. Roll up your template in a cone shape and line up the black lines. 

Put some glue where it says "Glue". :)

And, you have a doll-sized paper cone!

Put some more glue on the inside rim of the cone.

Place the painted styrofoam ball inside the cone and press gently to secure.

Ta-da!!! You've made your doll a delicious snow cone to enjoy!
