You know it's the Holiday season when there are poinsettias for sale at stores. They are such gorgeous flowers and so festive too!
I thought it would be fun to create a felt poinsettia hairclip for my dolls to wear. These are so easy and a great way to dress up any holiday outfit. I'm going to show you how to make one for your doll too, let's get started!
First you'll need some supplies:
- Red Felt
- Scissors
- Glue
- Plain Metal Hairclips
- Pen
- Medicine Cup
- Stick-on pearls, gems, or other decoration
Once you have everything you need, trace around the bottom of the medicine cup to make a circle. Cut out with your scissors and set aside.
Then cut out a raindrop shape--they will need to be two different sizes. One is almost an inch long and the other is a half inch long. So, there will be one bigger and one smaller.
You can use the first one as a guide, cutting around it to make sure they are all the same size. They don't have to be the same shape though, they can all be different.
You'll need to cut out 8 bigger raindrop shapes and 5 smaller.
Then start glueing your bigger raindrop shapes around your felt circle, overlapping them to resemble flower petals.
Keep glueing until all of them are around the circle. You should still have your 5 small raindrop shapes left.
Glue those on top of the others, making another layer of petals.
Now for the final touch! I added these really pretty pale yellow stick-on pearls I had in my craft stash. You can find stick-on pearls and gems at all craft stores for cheap. BUT, you can use any kind of decoration you want--a button, beads, yellow felt circles, glitter glue, markers, anything you have on hand. Be creative! :)
Glue the metal clip to the back of the circle and you're finished!!
The hairclip looks so beautiful in Cecile's curly dark hair, I love it!
I hope you have lots of fun making a festive hairclip for your doll! If you do, I'd LOVE to see! Feel free to send me a picture at [email protected]
Happy Holiday Crafting! :)
