On sunny Summer days, every doll needs a visor to shade her eyes. These are so much fun to make and I love how easy they are! I even have a free pattern that you can use. Here's how you can make one too!
First you'll need some supplies:
- Craft Foam
- Scissors
- Beading Cord Elastic (I got this kind at Walmart in the sewing section for 97 cents)
- Hot Glue Gun or Regular Glue
- Ribbon Or Other Decorations
- Doll Sun Visor Pattern
Before we get into the craft here's the Doll Sun Visor Pattern. You can print it out by clicking on the picture or link below. (Be sure to download and print at “Actual Size” from a PDF reader like Adobe Reader. If you save & print directly from your browser, it might not print at the right size.)
Now here's how to make the sun visor:
1 & 2. Cut out the pattern and place on a piece of foam. Cut around. 3. Snip a small hole on both corners of the visor with your scissors. (You may want a parent to do this for you). 4. Then take about a 12 inch piece of beading cord and slip upwards through the hole. Tie a knot and bring it close to the hole to make sure it's secure. 5. Do the same thing to the other side. You make want to place the visor on your doll's head to make sure the elastic isn't too loose or tight before you tie the final knot. 6. Make a bow with ribbon and cut out another 4-5 inch piece of ribbon. 7. Scrunch up the visor with your hand like shown so that's it's easier to glue and then glue on the ribbon. 8. You're done!!
Now your doll can look stylish in the sun!
Here's another purple one I made that looks fabulous on Mia!
Cecile is such a cutie...she rocks that pink!
I hope you have fun making a sun visor for your doll! If you do, I'd LOVE to see! Feel free to send me a picture to [email protected]
Happy Crafting!
