I can't thank American Girl enough for putting a store in Columbus, Ohio! We traveled up there yesterday and spent the afternoon browsing the store and outdoor mall. Seeing all of Maryellen's 1950s items in person was tons of fun and I made sure to take many pictures. I'm super excited to share them with you!
First we have to talk about Maryellen's Seaside Diner. It is one of the coolest American Girl furniture pieces I've ever seen! The vinyl seats are so soft and there are many small details that make this a special piece.
I loved the diner food and the best part is the hamburger can come apart!
They had three diners spread out across the store in various ways to show how it can be set up and played with.
This is how I'd probably set it up if I had the diner. :)
Here's my sister next to the diner to show its size. We both loved being able to pick up and touch the items, the American Girl store experience is so much fun!
The little signs and orders pinned up were adorable too.
The jukebox was so shiny and beautiful! Definitely even more cool in person.
Now onto Maryellen herself, she is such a cutie! Her face coloring is nice and fresh, which gives her a sweet look. Her meet dress is gorgeous! I liked the mint cardigan a lot.
Her pretty eyes are hazel but much darker than my Mia's, even my Rebecca's.
Here she is in her school outfit. Purple suits her well! Her hair is quite long and bouncy.
Loved her poodle skirt! The skirt is quilted and thicker than I thought it would be. The petticoat underneath gives her dresses fullness. The pink petticoat is made of layers of tulle and looked even more well made than the hoop skirt I have for my dolls.
I loved all of her outfits!
Maryellen's pajamas and couch/bed were sweet too. Her dog scooter looks worn out! haha
Maryellen's Television Console is one of my favorites in her collection.
We pulled out the section behind the TV to get a closer look at how it works with an iPad.
You can actually flip through the TV Guide and there are tiny words and pictures. The books on the shelf of the TV stand are stuck on there but the little plant you can pick up.
Here's a closer look at her retro table and lamp. My great-grandparents had a lamp and couch similar to Maryellen's that I remember!
I have several other store pictures to show you, but I'm going to wrap up and do a Part 2 later this week! Here's one last photo...
When I saw Grace, I just had to take her home with me!!!
Can't wait to share more pictures with you soon. Hope you enjoyed the Maryellen collection tour! Let me know your thoughts on Maryellen's items, I'd love to hear from you! :)
