I think bracelets never go out of style and right now I love leather bracelets with embroidery on them. I wanted my dolls to have one too and thought of a great way to do it...with craft foam! I'll show you how to make your doll her own "leather" bracelet too, let's get started!
First you'll need some supplies:
- Brown Craft Foam
- Sewing Needle
- Colored Thread (I used two different colors)
- Elastic Stretch Cord (I found this kind in the sewing aisle at Walmart)
- Scissors
- Measuring Tape/Ruler
1. Start by cutting a piece of craft foam 3 inches long and a little over a half inch wide. 2. You can make any design you like but I wanted to make zigzags. So with my needle I poked holes in a row, making two rows with thirteen holes each. 3. Thread your needle (I used three strands of thread) and make sure to tie a small knot at the end. 4. Bring your needle up through the first hole at the top and down through the hole diagonal from it. 5. Then bring your needle up through the next diagonal hole. 6. And down through the same hole as before. 7. This creates a cool zigzag look! 8. Keep going until you reach the end. 9. Tie a double knot at the back before you cut the remaining thread. 10. Now it's time for the next color. Bring your needle through the holes the same way as before. 11. I love how the colors overlap! 12. Poke holes on the sides to slip the elastic through. 13. Tie a knot to hold the elastic in place. (I used a 3 inch piece of elastic, it will shrink when you tie the knots). Do the same to the other side. 14. And you're done!
