I'm excited to share a new braid that I learned how to do, the Dutch Braid! It's also called a reverse french braid, which gives the braid a 3-D look. I love it! I tried it on Addy and it looks beautiful. This would work for any doll with long hair; straight, textured, or curly. Here's how you can make a dutch braid...
1. First gather a small section of hair from the top of your doll's head. 2. Separate the hair into three equal strands. 3 & 4. You will begin braiding, but instead of crossing your strands OVER the middle piece like in a french braid, you will be crossing UNDER. I crossed the left strand under the middle, then the right strand under the middle. 5 & 6. Then take a section of hair from the side and add into one of your strands. 7. You will cross this section of hair UNDER the middle strand. 8. Repeat on the next side and continue adding pieces, crossing under the middle strand each time. 9. When you reach the base of her neck, keep braiding down until you're done. 10. And, there you have a dutch braid!
You can make your dutch braid high or low, depending on how you'd like it to look. :)
Addy loves her new style!
If you try this out on your doll too, I'd love to see! You can send me a picture to [email protected]
Happy Styling! :)
