I love how hair bows bring a burst of color to a simple hairstyle! Using ribbon to make hair bows is one of my favorites and here's a new one I made that I call the Festive Hair Bow. You can use any colors or patterns--for holidays, sports teams, anything you like. I'll show you how to make one too!
First you need some supplies:
- Ribbon
- Sewing Needle & Thread
- Scissors
- Hair Clip
- Glue
- Ruler/Measuring Tape
- Rhinestones, Buttons, or Other Decorations
1. Start by cutting your ribbon 3 inches long. I used three different kinds of ribbon and cut two of each design. 2 & 3. With your scissors snip a small "V" on each end so they are spiky. 4. Thread your needle and put a piece of ribbon onto the needle tip. Repeat with the next ribbon to make an "X" on your needle. 5. Put the next ribbon in the middle of the X. 6 & 7. Put your next ribbon straight up, then make a final X with the rest of the ribbon. 8. Sew a few stitches to hold the ribbon in place. Then cover the stitches with a rhinestone or button in the middle. Glue onto a hair clip and you're done!!
I line my clips with ribbon and it's super easy! Here's how I do it: Open the clip and slide a long piece of ribbon underneath, then close the clip. Place hot glue on the clip and fold over the ribbon. Cut off any excess ribbon. Repeat on the other side of the clip. :)
And there you have a festive hair bow! I love how it looks in Grace's hair! :)
If you make one, I'd LOVE to see. Feel free to send a picture to [email protected]
Happy Crafting! :)
