Dragonflies are a rare insect around here; it's always a spectacular sight when one is buzzing around. These clips were a lot of fun to make! They are great decoration that your doll can put in her room, either tapped on the wall, clipped on a bulletin board or on a cute potted plant. Let's get started!
The supplies you need are:
- Mini Clothespin (Mine is 1.87 inches, I found a 24 pack at Walmart)
- Two Pipe Cleaners
- Two Googly Eyes
- Washi Tape (You could use cardstock or construction paper too)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Scissors
1. Once you have all your supplies, set aside everything but the clothespin and washi tape. 2. Stick a piece of tape on the clothespin, trimming any excess with your scissors. (If you don't have washi tape, you could also glue on cardstock or construction paper). 3. Now get one of your pipe cleaners and twist into an oval wing shape, the length of mine was about an inch across. 4. Do the same to the other side. Then, repeat with the other pipe cleaner so you have two wings. 5. Put a dot of glue in the middle to attach the wings to each other. After that, open the clothespin and slide the wings under it. You can glue them to hold them in place better. 6. Finally glue on the googly eyes, and you're done!
Aren't they pretty? You can also glue a magnet on the back of the clothespin for another way to use them, they are sure to brighten up any doll space.
Julie loves all the dragonflies! I think they are attracted to the marigolds. ;)
