I love fresh tomatoes from the garden! There's just something about growing your own that make them taste so much better. I thought it would be fun to make my dolls some tomatoes out of felt and I love how they turned out. I'll show you how to do it too!
The supplies you need are:
- Red Felt
- Green Felt
- Needle & Red Thread
- Scissors
- Poly-Fil/Cotton
- Hot Glue Gun
- Ruler (optional)
1. First cut out a circle of red felt 3 inches wide or less than that, depending on what size you want your tomato to be. 2. Thread your needle and make sure to tie a knot at the end. 3. Poke the needle near the top of the circle. Bring the needle up, then down, then up again. Pull the needle through and continue doing this until you reach the end. 4. Tightly pull the thread so that the felt starts to scrunch up. 5. Stuff with a little poly-fil, then sew up the top with a few stitches and tie off. 6. Cut out a star shape from the green felt to be the leaves and snip off a small rectangle to be the stem. Roll the felt rectangle between your fingers to give it more shape. Glue to the top of the tomato. And, you're done!
Now your doll can go pick them herself!!
Felicity loves going out to see what's ripe in the garden each day. :)
