I've always loved making a Gingerbread house for Christmas, but this year I wanted to make one for my dolls! The best part about this craft is that everything is craft foam, so it can be enjoyed all the time. I've also created a free pattern that you can use to get your gingerbread house started.
Print Gingerbread House Pattern.
Click the link or picture above to print it out. (Be sure to download and print at “Actual Size” from a PDF reader like Adobe Reader. If you save & print directly from your browser, it might not print at the right size.)
Besides your pattern and scissors, the other supplies you need are:
- Brown Craft Foam
- White Craft Foam
- Cardboard
- Paint/Puffy Paint
- Craft Foam Stickers
- Glue
While I was at Michael's Craft Store I found this kid's craft kit to decorate a Gingerbread house and bought it for the cute pieces--gumdrops and peppermint sticks! I planned to trim them to fit on my doll's mini house.
After you cut out the pattern, trace it onto the brown craft foam. You'll need two pieces of each shape to make the roof and walls.
Glue the sides together to form the house! I put mine on a piece of cardboard to hold it in place. I used Hot Glue, but craft glue would work well too.
And now for the fun part, decorating!!! The craft foam stickers make it easy to decorate. I also used white craft foam to make the roof icing, which I love!
It looks good enough to eat! ;)

Julie and Ivy love their sweet creation! :)
