It's almost time to exchange Valentines with friends! Your doll can join the fun too with her very own Valentine box and envelopes. I got the idea for the Valentine box when I found a mini cardboard box at Michael's Craft Store--it's the perfect shoe box size, just like the real ones.
1. Here's what the box looks like. It has a removable lid which is great! 2. I then used a ruler to mark the center and drew a rectangle a little more than 1 inch and half long and a half inch wide. 3. To make the slit I used an X-Acto knife, but make sure to have a parent/guardian cut it for you. Sharp scissors could work too. 4. The final step is to decorate it! To get the paper to be accurate measurements, I used the box as a guide by laying the paper on one edge and cut around. You could also use a ruler to measure the sides and cut accordingly. A glue stick works good to attach the paper on the box. There is so much you can do with the decorating! I loved using glitter glue, stickers, and ribbon. :)
Now your doll needs some little envelopes to put in her box! Here's how you can make some:
1. For this craft you'll need a piece of white felt, pink felt, scissors, red/pink thread, a needle, and stick-on velcro circles. First cut your white felt 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. 2. Fold the rectangle in half and cut the top of it at an angle. I did mine about 1 inch and half from the corner, but you can adjust as needed. 3. Unfold the felt and you'll now have a triangle shape at the top. Fold the bottom of the felt up. 4. Thread your needle with embroidery thread and sew around the envelope edges. Cut a small heart from pink felt and sew around that too for a cute look. 5. Sew the heart onto the tip of the envelope. To make the envelope close, cut two small pieces from some velcro circles and attatch them onto the felt. 6. And you're done!!
Rebecca is so excited to give out her Valentine's at school. :)
The little envelopes fit perfectly inside the box! :)
