Introducing...Princess Clara! Her new lace crown is so elegant and beautiful, I loved making it!! With a few steps, you can make one for your doll too. Let's get started!
The supplies you need are:
- Lace Ribbon--I used 7/8 in. x 2 yd (2.2 cm x 1.8 m) and 1 3/5 in x 2 yd (4 cm x 1.8 m).
- Fabric Stiffening Spray
- Spray Paint
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ruler/Tape Measure
- Stick-On Pearls or Gems
- Wax Paper or Aluminum Foil & A Flat Surface
1. First cut your lace ribbon 11 and half inches long. Then lay the lace flat on wax paper or aluminum foil. Spray on the Fabric Stiffening Spray. I found this at Michaels Craft Store and it works so well!! You'll need to cover the lace completely front and back with the spray. Use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process or you can let it air dry. You can add another layer after it's dry if it is not stiff enough. 2. Here's what the lace looks like with the stiffening spray and without. 3. After the lace is completely dry, it's time to put on the spray paint. I chose a gold glitter paint. To avoid the paint going everywhere I did this step outside in my yard. :) 4. Allow the spray paint to fully dry or use the hair dryer again. Then, bring both ends of the lace together to form the crown. Put a dot of hot glue to secure. And, you're done!! You can also decorate the crown with stick-on pearls or gems for a fancier look.
Now your doll has a crown fit for a Princess!
I made two different crowns, a smaller one and a larger one with stick-on pearls at the tips.
Which one is your favorite? :)
These would be great birthday crowns too! And, if you make it a bigger size you can make a matching one for yourself.
If you make one for your doll, I'd love to see! You can send me a picture to emai[email protected] or tag me on Instagram @creativedollcrafts
