I have loved the previous American Girl books by DK and I have a new favorite: the American Girl Character Encyclopedia. It's a book we have all been waiting for! The company sent me an early copy to review and I can't wait to share it with you.
This encyclopedia is packed with incredible facts and stunning full-color photos, featuring all of the Beforever, Girl of the Year, and Contemporary characters. It takes a deeper look into the American Girl sets, accessories, doll outfits, and more--retired and brand-new! The book also shows many of the Truly Me dolls and collections. It retails for $16.99 and releases next month on July 4th. (But, you can pre-order it now!)
The book starts off with the American Girl Characters, first with Beforever. There are two pages for each and it covers many fun facts about their personality and time periods.
Every historical doll is included, even the dolls who are in the American Girl archives.
Next is the Girl of the Year characters from 2001 Lindsey to 2017 Gabriela. I love how it tells what happened in their year too!
This is a great book for the new American Girl Fans who are not familiar with the previous dolls. You can learn so much! It's also a lot of fun for the ones who can reminiscence and look back at American Girl through the years.
I love the pages for the new characters too--Tenney & Z. Logan is also featured briefly in a picture.
As you get further in the book, you can read about all of the doll's Pet Pals. Coconut has always been one of my favorites!
The pictures are fabulous! So detailed.
As you get to the end of the book, it's all about the Truly Me dolls Perfect Pasttimes, their hobbies and activities. My favorite page is this Art & Crafts one!
Click on the photos above to read the pages and get a closer view! They are from the Truly Me chapter and Girls On The Go, which show all of the doll's accessories they can use to explore.
Rebecca's Movie Set and Kit's Tree House are part of the Amazing Places chapter. I like how there is a good mix of all dolls in the book, not one is shown more than the other. A lot of work went into this and it definitely shows!
One of the best parts of the book to me are the Character Gallery and Truly Me Gallery at the back with every American Girl doll.
There are other galleries for the doll pets & accessories too. I really like seeing everything all together!
This is an awesome reference book and with 208 pages, it will keep you busy reading for hours. It's a definite must-have for American Girl Fans of all ages! :)
