Fan Sighting at My Old KY Home!

Last weekend our family took a trip down to Bardstown, KY about 2 hours away. It's the place where Stephen Foster got inspiration to write the Kentucky State Song, "My Old Kentucky Home". He also wrote familiar songs like Oh Susanna, Swanee River, Camptown Races, Beautiful Dreamer, and others!

We toured this beautiful mansion of Stephen Foster's Cousin...

We thought it looked a lot like Felicity's Grandfather's plantation!

We also went to see an outdoor play called "The Stephen Foster Story"...

After watching the play, some fans of our website actually ran into us! They recognized us while we were exiting, and it was so much fun to get to meet them! They were such sweet girls...

Crazy how the world is so small sometimes, even the internet! Thanks again girls for stopping us, it was such a nice surprise! :)

While watching "The Stephen Foster Story", that time period was around the 1800s, so we couldn't help but think the fashions looked a lot like Cecile's dresses! Here are a few more fun pictures from the play...

We had such a fun trip and meeting some fans made it even more awesome!

From a Friend: The American Girl Fashion Show!

My friend Lacey had the awesome opportunity to go to the American Girl Fashion Show a few weekends ago! She sent me some pictures and her thoughts on the event, and I thought it would be fun if she shared about it with you too! So, here she is...

Hello! Here are some pics from the AG Fashion Show! I had a pretty good time there, enjoying the past and present AG fashions!

Here's a picture of the actual stage and seating. (The stage is actually to the far left while on the other side of the large white room divider-thingy is where I took the following pictures.)

People waiting to be seated. (The line got a whole lot longer after just a few minutes!)

Some of the very big raffle items. (McKenna and her beam and bar, Cecile & Marie-Grace with bed, MyAG doll with horse, and there was also a set of Bitty Twins)

A few dolls that were in the silent auction. (Samantha, Marie-Grace and Cecile are pictured)

And, some girl-sized AG Fashion Show clothes, souvenirs, and such. (I was kind of bummed that there was only one doll-sized souvenir, but I bought one for myself ;D)

 Overall, I had a fairly good time. I enjoyed: Being with just my mom, looking at all the dolls that were part of the silent auction, seeing an actual Samantha doll in person, seeing a McKenna doll in person, being in the Music Hall, seeing doll-sized clothes become girl-sized clothes, picking up an awesome souvenir, knowing what a good cause all of the profits went to, savoring some yummy--but a little tart--lemonade, and just seeing how many people were interested in American Girl!

American Girl Finds from the Goodwill Thrift Store!

Recently, we went to our local Goodwill Thrift Store! It's fun to look around and see if there's anything we can find. Well, this time...I found some really cool American Girl things!! :)

First I found an old "Good Sports" American Girl book! The copyright is 1999 by Pleasant Company! I had never seen this book before! :)

I also found another American Girl book "The Babysitters Handbook". It's copyright is 1999 too! It was really funny because this book I found in the Kid's section and the Good Sports one in the adult section. They were completely across the store from each other!

We decided to go to another Goodwill too. The first thing I found there was this "A Smart Girls Guide to Friendship Troubles" American Girl book. I almost didn't buy it because I remembered having the same book at home. Though, I got it anyway and was surprised when I found out that the two books were the same, but different!

The difference was that the book I got at Goodwill was made by American Girl, and the one I already owned was made by American Girl Library/Pleasant company. I thought that was really cool!

I then searched through a huge pile of books and found this American Girl Josefina Directors Guide. I was really surprised when I saw this. The copyright of the book was 1998. As I skimmed through the pages I found out that it was a play book of a Josefina story. You and your friends could act out the characters and perform the play.

On the back of the Directors Guide it showed that there were plays for the other 6 American Girl Characters too. (There were only 6 Historical dolls in 1998, Kit wasn't even available yet!)

On this page of how to plan the play I saw that it said there were four included play scripts. I wondered if the Play Scripts were in the stack of books too, so I searched through the rest of the books...

...and I found all four of the Play Scripts together!

Here's a page of the play script. The play looks so much fun, I would have loved doing this with Hope when I was younger!

I was super excited about finding the American Girl books, but as we were checking out I found something else too!

This cute little pitcher that was doll sized!!

Isn't it pretty? I love the design on the pitcher. I think this would be perfect for Samantha's time period!

I was surprised that I found some American Girl things at Goodwill! It was the first time I found anything AG there, but also the first time I really searched. I only spent around $7.00 for all of it too! :)
